Anti Blast Window Film for Sainsbury’s – Fulham

Guardian Window Films recently completed a project alongside M Price Glazing towards supplying and installing anti-blast film, for the new flagship Sainsbury’s shop in Fulham to protect the building and its visitors from explosions and mitigate potential damages which could be incurred by bomb blasts. We were tasked with installing anti blast window film to the external façade of the new and prestigious store to ensure security and safety of all employees, staff and customers working or shopping in the premises. Guardian have extensive experience in risk assessment in relation to blast mitigation as we have previously worked for the Carillion project at the BP Headquarters, which enabled us to select the precise window film for the project to protect against injury in the event of industrial or terrorist explosion. The film chosen also benefited of some safety window film properties, as works by holding the glass together in the event of breakage, preventing the broken shards of glass from separating and being propelled through the air, thus preventing any further injuries from flying glass. Installing over 1600m2 of 175 micron bomb blast film this project was completed as free standing glass with each pane weighing in excess of 50 kilos. Specialist hydraulic lifting equipment was sourced by Guardian with the team using the machines to manoeuvre the glass around the site before and after filming.
